precautions in case of an oil crisis
We have all taken precautions in case of an oil crisis. When the electricity disappear, when the food stores is empty, when the hospital is full and they have no medicine left, we won’t be lost like chickens in a human house.
Our houses aren’t power up the same way but we will use the same solutions to lack of electricity. Leo’s house is heated up with oil (diesel) while the house of Shames Fond is warmed up by electricity. Our "solution" is to heat up the houses using electricity so we have bought solar panels, some small wind turbines and one exercise bike each that can run three little radiators or 15 lamps! More for the fun than for the good, but still. We have installed floor heating that will be the major heat source if something happens. This is something we will already use before it really becomes necessary but we need to isolate the roof much better and change the windows so we’ll have three layers of glass in them instead of two. When this is done we won’t use as much energy as now. We both got one or several fireplaces, so we will put in stoves instead of having an open fireplace with much energy lost. Of course we have a bunch of trees ready to chop down in smaller pieces! This is what we thought about so far as it comes to the heating. We’ll also use a smaller part of the house so we avoid to heat up the whole place.
Having warm water and not spending too much money is a hard task. We will warm it with electricity but we’ll probably have to shower in ice water at times. We’ve installed some smaller tanks where we can collect water from the rain to use to different tasks. Like for example watering plants. We’ve arranged a few square meters to grow vegetables in our backyard and we are planning for a greenhouse to. So we’ll have vegetables to eat and maybe if we are lucky, some kind of fruit! Otherwise we’ve establish contact with a two smaller farms not more than 10 kilometers from Enköping for meat, milk and flour. For the rest we have a smaller refinement but nothing special. I’d say we are good for two or three weeks.
At last we have got our self vaccinated for almost every disease and bought other medical supplies for smaller issues. We’ve bought a doctors book to, so we know what we are suffering from! If it will help we don’t know but at least we won’t disturb the doctors for nothing!
So this is Leo’s and Chames’s little list of precautions for an oil shortage!

Chames Fond
Chames Fond is one of our reporters here at 1337 news. Chames start work at 1337 news when he were 45 years old, his main task were to bring us coffee so at the start they called him “The coffee man” . Chames really had that special voice that you need to be a famous reporter but they didn’t notice that at the beginning. It last almost 7 years before their Studio cleaner, Leo Bon Beckman, noticed that Chames had the perfect voice to be a reporter. When Leo told them, they actually listened when Chames talk once and they were really surprised, the boss felt of his chair in amazement and he instantly gave him the job as the “traveling reporter” When you are a traveling reporter you are traveling around the world sending news reportage from the location where you are. Chames Fond still lives with his parents when he is home and he has no thoughts about moving out because he really enjoys the good life where he doesn’t need to do anything, his mother wash his clothes and cooks dinner to him and he doesn’t need to pay anything. So the only thing Chames is spending his money on is Crisps, Candy and Soda.

Leo Bon Beckman
Leo Bon Beckman is the name of our main reporter here at 1337 news. He studied at Westerlundska high school here in Enköping at a program called technics, on the breaks he were an intern here at 1337 news and his main task were to clean the studio before we came here in the morning. Leo had always dreamed about being a News reporter so he started to work here when he finished high school, his main task were still to clean the studio, but one day when the boss came to the headquarter he saw Leo sitting on the reporters chair and pretended that he produced a news reportage. Leo was very talented so the boss decided to give him a try as a reporter and Leo really charmed him with his talent. So that is the story about Leo being the main reporter.
Leo is only 19 years old and he lives with his grandfather and grandmother in a house at a location called Fanna. Leo have a girlfriend called Anki, Anki also lives at Leo’s grandparents. Anki works as a chef in a restaurant near the headquarter of 1337 news so they go hand in hand to the work every day because they can’t afford the gas to the car anymore, but that doesn’t make them poor because almost 70% of the population in Enköping can’t afford the gas anymore because of the oil crisis.

differences
When browsing through all the blogs that is found on the WWO’s homepage I found this:
"Here in France I paid the equivalent of $6.40 per gallon the last time I filled my Ford Fiesta (note the size of the car). Yes, that's more than it used to cost me - but we have alternatives here: reliable, frequent public transportation, both in the city and between cities, employer subsidies for people who use them, and of course denser cities in the first place (so you can walk places).
Maybe the real problem is fuel efficiency, urban design and the belief in one's constitutional right to drive cars? ( text taken from here: http://wwotext.blogspot.com/2007/05/fw-spam-low-gas-is-expensive.html )"
To me it’s strange to read this, using the bus or the train several times a week, I can’t really see how I would do without it. And I didn’t thought that the USA who is a country well developed didn’t had as much ways to go from one place to another. Only now looking back I have never heard someone said ” I have a train to catch” or a bus. I’m shore there is other ways than using the car but not as much as in Europe. Never thought of it
An replacement to the gasoline vechiles is back.
I recently read a blog that i found on the internet. It was quite fun to read because there were a lot of fact about Electric vechiles. One thing that i found quite intresting was this: "Electric vehicles first came into existence in the mid-19th century, when electricity was among the preferred methods for motor vehicle propulsion, providing a level of comfort and ease of operation that could not be achieved by the gasoline cars of the time." That means that back in time they were using electric vechiles instead of gasoline vechiles. Then i start to think, Why have they not invented more electric vechiles by this time? okay right there were recently a few electric cars invented by a random manufactur AND they have installed a few "electric refillers" to refill the electric power to the cars (instead of gasoline) around the country. But when you give a thought about how long we have knew about this "climate problem" why didn't we replace the gasoline cars with electric cars for a long time ago? We knew how to produce them because that could we do for about 200 years ago to so that's no excuse. A reason for that must be that peoples is getting more intrested and scared for the climate problem now than earlier, and they want to help. That's a good thing, but i think it's kind of late when we have new both about the climate problems and how to make climate friendly cars.
But as they say, better late than never.

Week 16 of the oil crisis
The main news of today is that it is pretty hard to find food! Almost all supermarkets are closed, but the good news is that alot of farmers are coming down town to sell there home grown food and it doesn't cost that much. We interviewed an old farmer named Leo about the farmer life in this oil crisis. The interview looked like this:
Me: Hey Leo, how are you doin'?
Leo: Howdy Cowboy i'm doing just fine.
Me: Great!, Now to the subject, how would you explain that your life has changed since the oil crisis break out?
Leo: Oh man! This is the best thing that ever happend. I'm going bananas! Talking about a long vacation. Maybe for a year or so! It's going to be great! The people is paying so much for the food i'm selling. The farmer life is going to be the new Wall street life!
Me: ehm okay, thanks alot mr.
Leo: hey man! don't thank me, thank mother nature!
Me: yeah, Thanks mother nature! Bye Leo!
Leo: Bye!
And that was everything from us at 1337 news. See you later!
Oil timeline
Local Energy Production
We did recently watch a News Sending from a Swedish News program called something like Nyheterna. The main subject were The oil Crisis and when we looked at it Leo came on with a brilliant idea. If you started to do everything local like localise the Energy production, the recycling and so on you would save alot of energy, Because when the Energy transports for like 1 mile, there are some kWh's that are vanishing. So if you had the energy production in your city you would save alot more energy.
technical problems!
The crisis that we all are worried about is the oil problem that suddenly appeared from nowhere.
Everything is getting more expensive, but the category where you can see the biggest price difference is the food, The food price has raised extremely high the last week, so almost every single person is starting to grow their own food at home.
Another problem is that its starting to get to expensive to have employees so there are many people getting fired right now. So the employment Services have much to do lately.
Many bicycles have been reported stolen, and many car windows has been crashed and the car stereos has been stolen. The government are powerless in this question and can't do anything about that this country and this world is beeing corrupt because of this.
That was everything from us and we hope that our technical problem will get fixed soon!
Our first news presentation
